UNVELL Inc. has opened the Steam store page for "F-2 MISSIONS: CASE ONE," the Windows / Mac desktop version of its flight simulation F-2 MISSIONS. You can add it to your wishlist starting today.

The release date is listed on the store as "Coming soon," and will be announced once it is set.

About F-2 MISSIONS: CASE ONE

F-2 MISSIONS is a flight simulation built to deliver authentic handling through simple controls. The iOS version launched on the App Store in August 2026.

F-2 MISSIONS: CASE ONE is its desktop version. You fly one aircraft, the JASDF's F-2, over the sea and skies of a true-to-scale Japan. A training course takes you from basic takeoffs and turns to low-level runs through mountain valleys. Once you complete it, you move on to missions based on real-world tasking such as scrambles, and to live-fire training against air, ground and sea targets.

You play a rookie selected for the F-2 pilot training program, flying a one-year special course out of Matsushima. Your instructor is on the radio throughout every flight, telling you what to do next.

Key Features

1. A physics-based flight model

Lift is computed from the aircraft's weight, speed and angle of attack, and the turn performance at any instant follows from those numbers. Holding a banked turn with back pressure is correct in the real jet, and it is correct here for the same reason.

The structural g-limit, and the weight change from drop tanks and burning fuel, all feed into how the aircraft performs. There are no stability assists: speed and energy management are entirely in your hands.

2. The real skies of Japan, at true scale

Terrain is built from national survey data and flown with no scale reduction. Fuji stands 3,776 m tall, and the Kurobe gorge drops 1,800 m. The width of a valley, and the speed at which a ridge closes in, are what they would be in the real aircraft.

Surveyed building footprints and trees are layered on the ground, and the sky is simulated from the atmosphere itself. Time of day, cloud cover, rain, fog and wind change both the scenery and the difficulty of the same stage.

3. From training to real-world missions and live fire

The training course starts with takeoffs, circuits, turns and touchdowns, then moves on to low-level runs through real valleys, formation flying, refueling from a KC-767, and landing on an aircraft carrier.

Beyond the training wait scrambles against unidentified aircraft, and live-fire training with guns and missiles against air, ground and sea targets. Hiding behind a ridge to stay out of a SAM site's sight — the low flying you learned in training is what keeps you alive.

4. A fully modelled cockpit

The first-person view comes with a fully modelled instrument panel and canopy. The HUD is not a screen overlay: it is projected onto the combiner glass in front of you. The g-forces the jet pulls carry through to the pilot's head, and on a carrier approach you read the meatball through the lens, at the angle a pilot actually sees it.

5. Difficulty, scoring and replays

Every mission can be flown at NORMAL / HARD / ACE. Carrier landings are scored 0–100 on sink rate, centerline, wire and angle of attack, and every flight is recorded automatically so you can review it from multiple cameras. Complete the course to unlock FREE FLIGHT, where you put together your own sortie from scene, weather, wingmen and music.

6. Built for the desk

  • Keyboard, gamepad (Xbox layout) and flight stick support
  • HDR output on HDR displays, uncapped frame rate, resolution and quality settings
  • Windows and macOS (Apple Silicon)
  • English and Japanese

After Launch

  • More mission types
  • VR support, planned as a free update
